TOWN OF WALLKILL – The owners of Gold’s Gym in the Town of Newburgh will open a second state-of-the-art facility in Orange County’s largest shopping mall.  The 53,000-square foot fitness and wellness center, owned by Don and Tammy Murphy, will occupy the second floor of the former Sears store at the Galleria at Crystal Run in the Town of Wallkill.
Mall officials signed the lease with the Murphys late in the week. General Manager Kate Fakler said they are “super-excited that the Murphys are launching a world-class Gold’s Gym facility at Crystal Run.” She was a member of their Newburgh facility in 1986 and plans to sign up for membership in Wallkill.

The space for the new gym will be completely gutted and built out into a fitness center unlike any other brand in the region, said Mr. Murphy. It is tentatively scheduled to open in December of this year or next January. Preliminary work to the interior has already begun.
“It will have all the bells and whistles,” he said.
Aside from the latest state-of-the-art exercise machines and free weights, the center will include an indoor track, a 60-yard sprint runway for track and field, and a 110-foot-long sled push runway.
There will be a boxing room, cardio cinema and a shake bar-café.
The piece de resistance, Murphy said, will be a 3,000-square foot glass enclosed, climate controlled rooftop cardio zone. “Imagine working out with a spectacular view with plenty of windows and sunshine?” he said.
Tammy Murphy said their Wallkill center will include a women’s only gym, kids’ zone, yoga studio, Zumba, Gold’s nutrition and weight loss programs.
“We need to be the CEO of our health. We have to be in control of our lifestyle,” she said. With her background in nutrition and healthy lifestyle coupled with her husband’s exercise and fitness passion, “we have the synergy to make this a world-class experience.”
Don and his mother Mary own the Gold’s Gym in the Town of Newburgh, a facility they spent $2.5 million remodeling and expanding about a year ago. It includes an indoor track, swimming pool and all of the amenities one would expect.”
Members at the Town of Wallkill facility will be able to use the Newburgh center as well, he said.
The new Gold’s will accept applications for membership before the facility opens. Down payments for early registration will be held in escrow until the facility is fully operational.
