SAUGERTIES – One person
is dead and 10 were injured when fire ripped through an apartment building
early Saturday moirning starting at 20 Russell Street and spreading to
22 Russell Street in Saugerties.
The fire was reported before 2:30 a.m. with several area departments called in to help battle flames that fully engulfed the 2 ½ story wood frame building.
The injured were transported to area hospitals by ambulance.
Many of those who were injured sustained burns.
One eye witness said people were running in and out of the burning structure
rescuing children inside..
