Security training exercises scheduled at Indian Point

BUCHANAN – Indian Point security officers will be participating in scheduled training drills at the Buchanan nuclear power plant on Tuesday, April 24 and Thursday, May 3.
The training drills will involve simulated attack scenarios intended to be as realistic as possible.
Residents may hear what appears to be gunfire from simulated weapons systems used during the drills.
Area law enforcement agencies have been notified.
Security officers will use Multiple Integrated Laser Engagement Systems gear during the drills. They involve special laser weaponry, which duplicates the effects, including sound, of live ammunition. The same gear is used for military and counter-terrorism training across the country.
