KINGSTON – Six people were arrested recently in separate incidents of welfare fraud and abuse.
Harry Phillips of Kerhonkson was arrested by Ulster County Sheriff’s deputies on a charge of misdemeanor misuse of food stamp benefits. He allegedly used a SNAP electronic benefit transfer card that did not belong to him to access benefits to which he was not entitled while the card owner was incarcerated in the Ulster County Jail.
Jacob Beilman of Poughkeepsie was arrested by Ulster Sheriff’s deputies on charges of misdemeanor welfare fraud and offering a false instrument for filing. It is alleged that he filed an application with the Department of Social Services, which contained misleading information about his income.
Myrtle Davis of Poughkeepsie was charged by sheriff’s deputies with misdemeanors of petit larceny and misuse of food stamps. It is alleged she used an electronic benefits transfer card to secure benefits from an account that did not belong to her.
Mary Bicknell of Saugerties was arrested by sheriff’s deputies and charged with felonies of welfare fraud and offering a false instrument for filing. It is alleged that she failed to report her income from December 2017 through February 2018 and received over $1,139 in Temporary Assistance benefits to which she was not entitled.
Taevion Roseberry of Kingston was charged with two counts of misdemeanor offering a false instrument for filing. It is alleged that in February she submitted false documentation in regard to her housing to the Department of Social Services.
Christina Shultis of Kingston was arrested and charged with misdemeanor welfare fraud. It is alleged she failed to report her correct household composition and income and received $821 in SNAP benefits to which she was not entitled.
