County Clerk Michael Bartolotti
assists a family of four with their passport application

CARMEL – A total of 125 residents planning to travel abroad later this year participated in Passport Day Saturday at the Putnam County Clerk’s Office in Carmel. It was the largest attendance ever for such an event.
A staff of county employees led by County Clerk Michael Bartolotti greeted the residents and within minutes they were on their way with a passport due to arrive within the next six weeks.
Bartolotti called the number registered an “outstanding.”  He reminded the public that all United States citizens must present a valid passport when entering or re-entering the U.S.  “U.S. citizens entering or re-entering from Canada, Mexico, the Caribbean and Bermuda at land borders and sea ports of entry must also present a passport or other travel document approved by the U.S. government.”
Bartolotti suggested that those planning travel outside the U.S. this summer apply for a passport now. “The travel season is right around the corner.”
In case you missed the opportunity, passports can still be applied for at the County Clerk’s Office in the Putnam County Office Building at 40 Gleneida Avenue in Carmel.
