Woman found dead in Wappinger Creek was Brooklyn resident

WAPPINGER – A woman whose body was found in a tributary of the Wappinger Creek on February 27 has been identified as that of a Brooklyn woman.
Investigation revealed Ashanti Moore, 36, was last seen in Brooklyn in the company of a man. She is believed to have traveled through or stayed in the areas of the Hudson Valley, Binghamton, Buffalo and Pennsylvania from August to September 2017. She may also have spent time in the Chattanooga, Signal Mountain and Red Bank areas of Tennessee and Rossville, Georgia.
State Police want to speak to anyone who may have had contact with Moore during her travels or who may have information about her death. They are asked to call State Police Troop K headquarters at 845-677-7300. All calls can be kept confidential.
