WHITE PLAINS – A Yonkers man pled guilty in Westchester County Court on Thursday to attempted murder in connection with the ice pick stabbing of his former girlfriend in Hastings-on-Hudson.
When sentenced in May, David Rojas, 39, faces up to 25 years in state prison.
On November 13, 2017, Rojas was a passenger in a vehicle belonging to the victim, a former girlfriend, when he stabbed her some 14 times in her abdomen and chest while they were parked on Saw Mill River Road in Hastings-on-Hudson.
The victim fled and ran across the road waving down motorists for help while Rojas drove off with the woman’s car but circled back several times looking for her. A passing motorist, a high school athletics coach, saw the woman in need of assistance, stopped to help her and took her into his car for safety while calling 911. She was then transported to Westchester Medical Center for treatment of her wounds.
Rojas was apprehended by Yonkers driving the victim’s car shortly after the stabbing. After being located, he was interviewed by Greenburgh Police and admitted to stabbing the woman and later directed police to the location where he had tossed the weapon.
