MIDDLETOWN – As work continues
to redevelop the former Woolworth building into retail shops and a walkway,
other Middletown Downtown Revitalization Initiative projects are in the
planning stages.
Mayor Joseph DeStefano said the storefront façade program has
received 35 applications.
“We will probably wind up with 13 to 15 that will be funded,” DeStefano said. “The surveying is going on for the streetscape and the parking lots; the surveyors have been around for the last couple of weeks. Then we move on to the design of the Erie Way Park here.”
Middletown was the first community in the Hudson Valley to receive a $10 million state DRI grant. The City of Kingston was the second to be designated for the $10 million grant.
