ALBANY – Three villages
and one city in the Hudson Valley are on the latest fiscal stress list
released Thursday by the state comptroller’s office.
The ratings are for the year 2017.

The Village of Ellenville, with a fiscal score of 58.3, is on the moderate
stress list while the villages of Walden with a fiscal stress score of
52.5, and Catskill with a fiscal stress score of 49.2, are both on the
“susceptible to fiscal stress list” along with the City of
Yonkers, with a stress score of 53.3.

No area municipalities were on the “significant stress” list
with a score of 65 to 100.

“Our indicators show fiscal stress is relatively low among New York
villages,” said Comptroller Thomas DiNapoli. “I continue to
encourage local officials to be mindful about how practices today might
impact budgetary solvency in the future.” He said the monitoring
system in his office helps keep local officials and the public informed
on that issue as well as economic and demographic drivers of fiscal stress.
