ALBANY – Unemployment in all Mid-Hudson Valley counties rose slightly in January when compared to the same month in 2017, the state labor department reported on Tuesday.
The January unemployment rate in the region was 5.0 percent, up from 4.4 percent in December 2017 and up from 4.8 percent in January 2017.
In January 2018, there were 55,800 unemployed in the region, up from 48,800 in December 2017 and up from 54,000 in January 2017.
The Hudson Valley’s January 2018 unemployment rate at 5.0 percent is ranked third among the 10 labor market regions in the state, trailing only the New York City region at 4.6 percent and the Long Island region at 4.9 percent.
