MID-HUDSON – Residents of the region turned their attention Thursday to digging out from Wednesday’s nor’easter that dumped anywhere from 12 to 24 inches of snow.
Many schools remained closed while others opened late. Several businesses also opened late.
Central Hudson, Orange and Rockland Utilities and NYSEG continue to restore power to the thousands of homes that remain without electricity. Many have not had power since the first storm hit last Friday while others lost service when trees brought down utility poles and wires Wednesday, knocking out power along with them.
Cable TV companies are also working to return service to their customers.
