Girl, beaten to death, allegedly by her parents, to be eulogized in Newburgh

Marissa Kennedy

NEWBURGH – Marissa Kennedy was just ten when her life ended on February 25.  She died after being beaten and tortured, allegedly at the hands of her mother and step-father.
Marissa, who was born in Middletown and attended Windsor Academy and New Windsor School while living in New Windsor before moving to Stockton Springs, Maine with her parents, will be eulogized during a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary’s Church on Saturday, March 10. The service will be held at 10 a.m. at the Newburgh house of worship.
Her mother, Sharon Carillo, and her step-father, Julio Carillo, allegedly beat and whipped her repeatedly with everything from a belt to a mop.
Marissa is survived by her Grandparents, Roseann and Joe Kennedy; Great Grandmother Lorraine Roy of Coppell, Texas; Grandparents Carmen and Julio Carrillo; several aunts and uncles, siblings and cousins.
Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday, March 9 at Brooks Funeral Home in Newburgh. The Mass, held on Saturday morning, will have Fr. Bill Scafidi officiating.
