Sullivan County officials, in the emergency operations center, track
the next storm
MID-HUDSON – Several thousand people in the Hudson Valley still
have no power following last Friday’s storm that delivered snow,
ice and strong winds.
Hang on. Mother Nature has another trick up her sleeve for March with
a second powerful storm system packing high winds and heavy snow in less
than one week expected to hit our region beginning Tuesday evening and
continuing through Thursday.
At this point late Monday night, the state’s list of power outages
by county includes 758 in Columbia County, 8,924 in Dutchess, 617 in Orange,
15,863 in Putnam, 365 in Rockland, 11,526 in Sullivan, 326 in Ulster and
47,695 in Westchester county.
Weather forecasters expect this next storm to begin Tuesday evening with
light snow, which will become moderate to heavy through the day Wednesday
and continuing into early Thursday.
During the day on Wednesday, sustained winds should be 10 to 25 mph with
gusts of 30 to 40 mph.
Snowfall totals could range from six to 14 inches.
