SAUGERTIES – A Saugerties man is charged with scheme to defraud, grand larceny and petit larceny following two auto body repair jobs he agreed to complete, but never did.
Saugerties Police said between May 16 and July 21, 2017, Charles Winters V, 35, agreed with two people to complete auto body work and took partial payments to complete the repairs. Winters then requested more money on several occasions to pay for parts, but it is alleged he never did any repairs.
He turned himself in on February 24 to Woodstock Police for an active arrest warrant and was sent to the Ulster County Jail in lieu of $1,000 cash bail or $2,000 bond.
