Two charged with armed robbery in Hopewell shooting

EAST FISHKILL – State Police have charged two men on armed robbery
charges stemming from the Sunday afternoon shooting of a man in the Acme
supermarket parking lot in Hopewell Junction.

The victim, a man in the late 20s, was shot in the leg and found by police
sitting in his car at the Route 82 store.

Two suspects, who fled the parking lot, were apprehended a short time
later by a Dutchess County Sheriff’s deputy as they fled in a car.

Devin Byers, 30, of Youngstown, Ohio was charged with armed robbery, criminal
use of a firearm, criminal possession of a weapon, and criminal possession
of marijuana, all as felonies.

Sean Peterson, 28, of Beacon, was charged with felony armed robbery.

A large quantity of marijuana and a .45 caliber semi-automatic handgun
were recovered.

The victim who suffered a single gunshot wound to the leg was transported
to MidHudson Regional Hospital in stable condition. Both men were arraigned
and remanded to the Dutchess County Jail in lieu of $75,000 cash bail
or $150,000.
