O’Donnell

GOSHEN – Orange County Legislator James O’Donnell is expected to announce that he will seek the Republican nomination to run for the 18th District U.S. House seat in the fall.
Democrat Sean Patrick Maloney is in his third term.
O’Donnell called a news conference for next week “to discuss critical issues” facing the district.
Prior to serving on the county legislature, he was deputy county executive in the administration of former County Executive Edward Diana.
O’Donnell had a long career in law enforcement, working his way up the ranks with Troop F State Police to the top post as major of the five-county unit and then went on to serve in a high position with the State Police at headquarters in Albany.  After his retirement from the troopers, O’Donnell went on to become police chief for the New York City Metropolitan Transportation Authority during the time of the 2001 World Trade Center terrorist attacks.
Maloney, meanwhile, announced on Wednesday that his campaign raised almost $1.9 million in 2017. His campaign war chest now totals just under $3 million.
