GOSHEN – Orange County Executive Steven Neuhaus named James Brooks of Chester as the new commissioner of the county Department of Parks and Recreation.
The county legislature’s Personnel Committee approved his appointment. The full county legislature must confirm the nomination.
Brooks has served for the past three years as deputy commissioner for buildings and grounds in the county Department of Public Works. Prior to working for the county, Brooks operated Brooks Homes for 26 years, where he built over 500 homes in Orange County, developed 15 residential communities from raw land and constructed several light commercial projects.
