New jobs continue to rise in Mid-Hudson

ALBANY – Private sector employment in the Hudson Valley for the 12-month period ending December 2017 increased by 1.4 percent, or 11,500, to 807,800.
Greene County, with 3.9 percent job growth, reflected the largest percentage increase.
Sullivan County came in second with 3.1 percent growth.
The Dutchess-Putnam Metropolitan Division saw 3.0 percent new jobs while Ulster County had 2.3 percent job growth.
Columbia County had a 1.4 percent increase in jobs while the Orange-Rockland-Westchester Metro Area saw a 1.0 percent increase.
Jobs were added in educational and health services – 4,800; trade, transportation and utilities – 4,500; natural resources, mining and construction – 2,100; and financial activities – 500. Job losses were centered in information and leisure and hospitality – both decreasing by 700 jobs.
