MIDDLETOWN – The City of
Middletown currently owns some buildings at the former Middletown Psychiatric
Center and is planning on purchasing 13 more structures and land to be
used for a college campus.
Fei Tian College in Cuddebackville, a fine arts school, already converted old buildings at the psych center for student dormitories. Common Council President Miguel Rodrigues said most of these additional buildings will be sold to the college for a satellite campus.
“The mayor is working along with economic development on the needs,” Rodrigues said. “We will put together a plan and maybe the city will keep some buildings, but mostly they will go toward the campus.”
Middletown has declared itself lead agency in the purchase of the buildings.
