WHITE PLAINS – A man wanted for the 2008 killing of a man waiting for a taxi in Yonkers was arraigned on a murder charge on Friday.
Early on June 16, 2008 a taxi pulled up in front of Medico Car Service in Yonkers where Jerome Hancock, 35, was waiting for a cab. Damon Scott allegedly shot and killed Hancock when he fired a gun from the front passenger side window. Scott was a cabbie for Yonkers Union Taxi.
Scott fled to Georgia. He was apprehended in Alpharetta, Georgie on an unrelated matter at which time he gave the police several fake names.
When police in Georgia learned his real identity, they notified Yonkers Police investigators, who had been looking for him.
Scott waived extradition and was returned to Westchester County. At his arraignment, he pled guilty and was jailed without bail.
If convicted, Scott faces 25 years to life in state prison.
