HILLSDALE – A Hillsdale man allegedly involved in a domestic dispute
fired a shotgun at State Police as they pulled up to the scene on Route
22 in the Town of Hillsdale on Tuesday.

Troopers said Tyler Meltz, 23, stepped out of a residence when they showed
up and fired the weapon at them. No one was injured.

Meltz took off, but was located hiding in a nearby vehicle and taken into
custody without incident with assistance from the Columbia County Sheriff’s

He was arraigned and remanded to the Columbia County Jail in lieu of $35,000
