Year begins with fatal fire

VILLAGE OF FLORIDA – The new year began on a deadly note in the Village of Florida as initial reports indicate a fire at 129 Hunt Drive was fatal.
The four-alarm fire broke out around 1:30 a.m. with several Orange County fire departments called in to fight the flames in the sub-zero weather. By 4:30 a.m., fire control reported most of the blaze had been knocked down as firefighting operations continued.
A fire investigator was called in and around 3:30 a.m., a medical examiner was summoned to the scene.
