WHITE PLAINS – Two certified nursing aides were arrested on charges of endangering the welfare of an incompetent or physically disabled person and additional charges.
Janet Rose, 62, of Mount Vernon and Verlanda Paulma, 25, of White Plains, were employed as CNAs at the White Plains Center for Nursing Care. They allegedly failed on May 26 to perform monitoring checks of an at-risk resident with dementia who eloped and wandered from the facility.
Video surveillance recovered from the nursing home captured the resident leading the home through an unlocked rear door just before 8 p.m. It is alleged that after the resident left the facility, Rose and Paulma failed to perform required 15-minute checks that would have alerted the home that the resident was missing, and that Rose falsely recorded that the safety checks were performed.
Both women face up to four years in state prison if convicted on the top count.
