Elderly SUV driver killed in crash with tractor-trailer

HIGHLAND – A 90-year-old Town of Poughkeepsie man was killed this
morning (Tuesday) when the car the 2003 Toyota SUV he was driving eastbound
on the Mid-Hudson Bridge veered into the opposite lane of traffic and
struck a 2014 Freightliner tractor-trail driven by a 58-year-old Cairo
man.
The elderly man was pronounced dead at the scene, according to Lloyd
Town Police. The truck driver was not injured.

The investigation is continuing.
The bridge was closed for approximately three hours after the 10:15
a.m. crash.

Lloyd Police were assisted at the scene by State Police and City of Poughkeepsie
Police, fire departments from Highland and City of Poughkeepsie, the Ulster
County Sheriff’s Office, New York State Bridge Authority and Mobile
Life Support Service.
