MIDDLETOWN – SUNY Orange officials have alerted the college community
of what they believe to be a non-credible threat of a potential shooting
today.

Just to be on the safe side, Middletown City Police were present on the
campus.

The anonymous phone call came in on a non-valid phone number.

An email sent to the college community Wednesday night said college security
personnel and local law enforcement are continuing to investigate the
situation.

School officials said they do not believe students, college personnel
or visiting community members are in any danger, but to be on the safe
side, both the Middletown and Newburgh campuses would be patrolled by
police. “Unfortunately, incidents like this reinforce the need for
all of us to remain ever vigilant regarding our own safety and the safety
of those around us,” the school email read.
