NEW CITY – Rockland County Executive Edwin Day lauded county legislature passage of the county’s $684 million 2018 budget on Wednesday. The budget comes in under the state tax cap.
For the average residential property owner, taxes will increase about $2 per month.
“The fact that the least time the county executive’s proposed budget was unanimously adopted by the legislature was 10 years ago speaks volumes about the integrity of my 2018 county budget,” Day said.
The county executive said his only disappointment was the failure of the legislature to set aside money to settle several expired labor contracts, some of which are subject to potential binding arbitration.
Day did allocate $4 million in the budget to prepare for contract settlements. He had hoped the legislature would have earmarked the same amount, possible from the sale of the Sain Building, which has been vacated.
