GOSHEN – A 47-year-old Middletown man has been sentenced in Orange County Court to six years in state prison followed by five years of post-release supervision in connection with his guilty plea to robbery.
It was alleged that David Johnson approached a man who was entering a Middletown grocery store on March 12, 2023, and demanded money.
Johnson pursued the man as he walked away, grabbing him by the throat and knocking him to the ground. Johnson then repeatedly punched the victim in the face until he was unconscious, took the man’s wallet and fled to a nearby apartment.
He was arrested hiding in a closet after police observed part of the attack on a street camera.
