BEACON – City officials in Beacon have been weighing their options to consolidate their three firehouses into one for the past few years and the studies continue.
Mayor Randy Casale said officials are now looking at Dutchess County space on Main Street.
“Right now we are doing a study on another piece of property that if we work a deal out with the county to take over the county building we might be able to put the firehouse on that lot and still leave a county service in there, maybe put City Hall and the firehouse up there, and if that doesn’t work, we will probably go back to the original sites that we looked at and see if they want to go forward with that or not,” Casale said.
Dutchess County has offices of Probation, Aging and DMV at its Beacon facilities.
