GOSHEN – A Port Jervis man has been sentenced in Orange County
Court to 16 years in state prison in connection with five indictments
charging him with criminal sale of a controlled substance and criminal
possession of a weapon.
On April 3, Robert Burbridge, 46, had been sentenced by Judge Craig Stephen
Brown to 13 years in state prison and five years of post-release supervision
following his guilty plea to criminal possession of a weapon, a loaded
.380 caliber semi-automatic pistol inside his Coleman Street residence
in Port Jervis on April 1, 2016.
On June 5, Burbridge pled guilty to an additional four counts of criminal
sale of a controlled substance, which were contained in separate indictments.
On November 13, he was sentenced with respect to the four additional indictments
charging him with criminal sale of drugs.
Burbridge sold cocaine on a number of occasions with varying prison sentences
to run concurrently adding up to the 16 year term.
“This defendant simply refused to stop trafficking narcotics, even
after he had pleaded guilty to a felony,” said District Attorney
David Hoovler. “The community will be safer during the 16 years
he is in state prison.”
Hoovler credited the Port Jervis Police Department will conducting the
investigations.
