Repairs made at the scenic Moodna Viaduct
and other places along the line
NEW YORK – Comprehensive infrastructure improvements on Metro-North’s Port Jervis Line between Port Jervis and Harriman have been completed. Work began on September 11.
Friday, November 17 is the last day that buses will substitute for trains with regular service resuming on Monday, November 20.
Railroad crews made structural repairs at the Moodna and Woodbury Viaducts, and after removing the defunct overhead bridge at Day Road in Campbell Hall, the town can establish formal cul-de-sacs at either end.
Crews also finished a rock slope remediation project, inspecting and reinforcing the rock slopes adjacent to the tracks between Port Jervis and Harriman to make sure they were free of any loose rocks and brush that could fall on the tracks and cause delays.
Metro-North crews installed 12,639 wooden ties, 4,571 feet of welded rail, three new switches, surfaced 7.6 miles of track and completed 19 field welds.
