Hoovler, left, congratulated by supporter

GOSHEN – Republican Orange County Clerk Annie Rabbitt defeated Democratic challenger Deborah Mulqueen for the second time.
Mulqueen, who works in the county clerk’s office, ran unsuccessfully against Rabbitt four years ago.
Rabbitt said under her leadership, the clerk’s office has accomplished much.
“I think the people were pleased with what we were doing in four years and they gave us another four years to prove that we are doing a good job and that we are going to serve the people to the best ability that we can,” she said.
Rabbitt served as a state assemblywoman before running for county clerk.
District Attorney David Hoovler, also a Republican, won a second four-year term as the chief prosecutor in the county. He defeated Democrat Michael Isgur for the second time.
His victory on Tuesday is a validation of the work his office is doing attacking narcotics, fraud and other crime, said Hoovler.
“We are going to continue on a community prosecution model where we reach out and engage the community and we figure out what they want and we try to work that into how we police, how the police police and how we prosecute the crimes,” he said.
Hoovler praised his staff, who he noted are non-political and give their all to the job every day.
