Crash with car sends ATV operator to hospital

SLOATSBURG – An accident involving an ATV and a car on Route 17 near the Sunnyside Restaurant in Sloatsburg Saturday evening sent the driver of the ATV to the hospital with serious head injuries, Ramapo Town Police reported.
At around 7:32 p.m., the crash occurred as both vehicles were northbound in the left lane, police said.
The ATV operator was treated at the scene by Rockland Paramedics and an off-duty doctor, on his way to Tuxedo. He was flown to Westchester Medical Center.
The driver of the car, a 30-year-old Monroe man and his 29-year-old passenger, were taken to Good Samaritan Hospital in Suffern by ambulance for observation.
A State Police Crash Reconstruction Team and the Ramapo Police conducted a joint investigation.
As of late Saturday night, no tickets were issued.
