Two arrested in fleeing vehicles

NEWBURGH – Following a
report of a large fight involving a gun in the area of 72 Wisner Avenue
in Newburgh minutes after midnight on Friday, October 20,, city police
observed two vehicles leaving the area. Both failed to comply with one
fleeing east and the other west on Wisner.

The vehicle headed west was stopped in the area of 221 Little Britain
Road and the driver, identified as Heather Aleman, 30, of the City of
Middletown, was arrested on a felony charge of aggravated unlicensed operation
of a motor vehicle.

The vehicle headed east stopped in the areas of 17 Lake Drive and the
driver, identified as Lamont McDonald, 27, of the City of Newburgh, fled
on foot Sgts. Kevin Lahar and Chris Lahar in pursuit. He was taken into
custody and charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance
both as a felony and misdemeanor, felony assault for an assault on a police
officer who was injured, and aggravated unlicensed operation.

Officers were in the area following a prostitution sting operation earlier
in the evening.
