Groth: “… some income
for the counties

GOSHEN – Monticello Casino and Raceway offers video lottery terminals as allowed by state law, but the president of the Catskill Regional Off-Track Betting Corporation would also like to have those VLTs in his betting parlors.
Donald Groth told the Orange County Economic Development and Gaming Committee on Tuesday that would provide another revenue stream for the counties, which receive a portion of the OTB proceeds.
“Our contention is to put VLTs near the Newburgh airport, near the waterfront in Poughkeepsie or near Danbury-Brewster area and try to generate some income for the counties,” he said.
Groth has also made a pitch to take over OTB operations in New York City. The New York City Off-Track Betting Corporation shut down in 2010. The state legislature twice gave its okay for Catskill OTB to operate betting parlors in New York City, but the governor vetoed that both times.
