Mount Vernon man sentenced in stabbing death

WHITE PLAINS – A 22-year-old Mount Vernon man was sentenced in
Westchester County Court Wednesday to 14 years in state prison after pleading
guilty to manslaughter.

Donte Pace stabbed James Puryear to death when he approached him on Elm
Street in Yonkers on October 18, 2016. The victim was unarmed. After the
attack, Puryear ran across the street and collapsed. A good Samaritan
called 911.

Yonkers Police arrested Pace on October 28.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Nicholas DiCostanzo
of the Superior Court Trial Division.
