MID-HUDSON – Counties across the region will be considering 2018 budgets in the next several weeks.
The first formal action to be undertaken in the rebuilt Orange County Government Center in Goshen will be County Executive Steven Neuhaus’ budget proposal presentation on Friday, September 29. He expects the spending plan to be a sound document.
“Right now I am planning on having the tax rate lower than when I came in in 2014,” Neuhaus said  “We have been lowering it a little bit every year so I think we will probably stay the same as last year or a little lower.”
Dutchess County Executive Marcus Molinaro will present his budget on October 31, but he said even though it will be Halloween, there will be nothing frightening about his spending plan.
“Dutchess County has remained committed to maintaining and ultimately lowering the tax levy; we have been able to do that for the last three years,” Molinaro said. “Remain focused on that, delivering the most efficient and cost-effective government.”
Putnam Executive MaryEllen Odell will unveil her spending plan on October 5.
