GOSHEN – The Orange County Industrial Development Agency has approved
a 20-year payment-in-lieu-of-taxes agreement with Merlin Entertainments
Group, parent company of Legoland, which wants to build a theme park in
the Town of Goshen.

Merlin had originally sought a 30-year PILOT, but the IDA studied the
ramifications and said it would consider the 20-year alternative, which
was given final approval by the board on Thursday.

The project, which is inching toward final town approvals, has also been
given the green light by the IDA for sales and use tax exemption for construction
of the project and building and equipping the facility.
