TOWN OF NEWBURGH – Lane closures are expected on Interstate 84 westbound between Exit 10S (US Route 9W/Route 32) and Exit 8 (Route 52) beginning at 9 p.m. on Saturday, September 23, until 6 a.m. on Sunday, September 24, while crews perform bridge repair work, weather permitting.
The state Department of Transportation said westbound traffic will be reduced to a single lane and then briefly detoured using the Exit 8 exit and entrance ramps while repairs are made to the bridge.
Traffic on Route 52 near Interstate 84 is also expected to be impacted during this time.  Motorists should anticipate delays, plan accordingly, and seek alternate routes where possible.
Drivers are asked to use caution when traveling through the work zone area and pay particular attention to all traffic control devices, including signs and flaggers.  Motorists are reminded that fines are doubled for speeding in a work zone.  In accordance with the Work Zone Safety Act of 2005, convictions of two or more speeding violations in a work zone could result in the suspension of an individual’s driver license.
