Man injured in bat attack, suspect arrested

NEW PALTZ – Police say a domestic dispute escalated and resulted in a baseball bat attack that caused multiple injuries to a man’s face and head. 
New Paltz police responded to a bar in the village at approximately 3:40 am on Wednesday and found a male victim. The victim and witnesses reported the victim was assaulted approximately an hour earlier.  They identified a suspected assailant.  
Based on that information, police arrested William Capuano, 28, of Gardiner.  He is charged with one count each of assault, a felony, and criminal possession of a weapon a misdemeanor.  He was sent to the Ulster County Jail in lieu of $10,000 bail
