New executive director named for Sullivan Human Rights Commission

MONTICELLO – Barryville resident Ari Mir-Pontier has been named executive director of the Sullivan County Human Rights Commission. She replaces outgoing Executive Director Lorraine Lopez-Janove, who assumed the position of chief diversity officer for the Orange, Sullivan and Ulster branches of SUNY.
Mir-Pontier has serves as the multicultural program manager for the Sullivan Renaissance beautification and community development program. In her new role, she will continue to increase participation of multicultural communities in the county, with a special focus on Spanish-speaking residents.
The county Human Rights Commission is dedicated to fostering mutual respect and understanding for the rights of all county residents.
