PHENIX CITY, ALABAMA – A former Florida man, who was arrested in the Town of Plattekill in 2014, has been convicted of murdering his cousin.
Christian Grissom, 32, was arrested on August 10, 2014 by Plattekill Police and the Ulster County Sheriff’s Office, as a fugitive from justice. He had been accused of murdering his cousin, Keonte Chavis, 19, of Phenix City, Alabama. Her body was discovered in a remote area days later.
After Grissom’s arrest in Ulster County, a search warrant was secured for the residence where he was found, and his vehicle, and a stain in the headliner of the vehicle was later confirmed to be Chavis’ blood.
On Monday, August 28, five members of the Ulster County Sheriff’s Office and a former member of the Town of Plattekill Police, traveled to Phenix City, Alabama and testified at Grissom’s trial on August 29.
Grissom faces 15 years to life in prison when sentenced on November 9.
