ESOPUS – Congressman John Faso (R, NY-19) has been accused by opponents of not being accessible by avoiding public town hall meetings. He will hold one this evening at Esopus Town Hall.
The freshman lawmaker said contrary to what opponents say, he has been, and will continue to be, accessible to his constituency.
“We are doing this (tonight) in conjunction with a group, which had approached me to say ‘could we have a town hall that would be based on principles of civil discussion and a genuine exchange of viewpoints,’ and I said, ‘absolutely’,” Faso noted. “As you know, I have had a televised town hall on live TV before a live studio audience, I’ve done a tele-town hall and I have met with close to 400 groups of citizens who have come to visit me in my offices since January.”
Faso does expect to have opposition at his session tonight, but he expects the event to be one of civil conversation.
