STONY POINT – A senior citizen couple from Stony Point has been
arrested and charged with 22 counts of animal neglect and 22 counts of
torture/injury/not feeding animals.

Louis Jerome Adler, 76, and his 74-year-old wife, Dorothy, were charged
following a June investigation. At that time, Stony Point Police and the
Humane Society seized 22 Husky dogs that were found in squalid conditions
including urine and fecal covered floors and conditions not suitable or
safe for dogs. The animals were in various stages of health at the time.

Investigators also discovered at least five animal carcasses believed
to be dogs from inside and outside the home in trash bags and plastic
garbage cans.

Rockland County and Stony Point health and building officials determined
the house was not fit for human habitation as well, was condemned and
all utilities were shut off for safety until the several health and building
code violations could be addressed.

The Adlers were issued appearance tickets returnable to Stony Point Town
Court.
