PORT JERVIS – Engineers representing the City of Port Jervis in the development of a whitewater park on the Delaware River will be concluding the city’s applications to be filed with the federal government.
Mayor Kelly Decker said the process is still a year away from completion.
“Our engineers believe that they can get us to the permitted stage that we actually put the permit application in with the understanding that the US Army Corps of Engineers and US Fish and Wildlife Service and the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission and the New York State DEC are all onboard and that will give us the permits, probably in May,” the mayor said.
The city has allocated $70,000 in local funds for the engineers to move their work forward.
If the permits are granted next spring, Decker said the city would hold public hearings with a referendum after that.
