WASHINGTON – Congressman John Faso (R, NY-19), like many Americans, was not satisfied with fellow Republican President Donald Trump’s comments concerning last Saturday’s violence in Charlottesville in which white supremacists clashed with anti-protestors.  One demonstrator was killed when one of the alleged supremacists rammed his car into a crowd.
Faso said Trump’s initial comments did not go far enough.
“The statement left too much ambivalence and I felt white supremacists,
white nationalists, neo-Nazis, whatever you call them, are really way
far out of normal political discourse, far out of the mainstream of conservative
thought and they should be condemned because their actions and their rhetoric
is harmful to our country and has obviously inspired some hateful people
to take actions like the ones we saw in Charlottesville on Saturday,”
the congressman said.
On Monday, the President harshly criticized those who promoted bigotry and hatred in Virginia, two days earlier.
