MIDDLETOWN – The judge who was on the bench for perhaps the most famous, or infamous, trials in Hudson Valley memory, is dead. David Ritter died Friday at age 82.
Ritter was best known for presiding at the two trials in 1983 and 1984, of five radicals accused of killing a Brinks guard and two Nyack police officers ion 1981.
Ritter’s long career included serving as Orange County District Attorney.
