Mayor Noble, third from right, cuts the ribbon
KINGSTON – The $2 million reconstruction of the Greenkill Avenue Bridge in Kingston has been completed and on Monday city officials cut a ceremonial ribbon reopening the facility over Broadway.
Mayor Steven Noble said reopening of the bridge will do much for the Midtown area of the city.
“This is a pretty important project for the Broadway corridor because
it carries about 4,000 cars a day so this project is not only going to
help relieve some of the traffic burden for the neighborhood, but it looks
a whole lot nicer and really does give the Broadway corridor a new feel,”
Noble said.
The state paid for about 95 percent of the project, the mayor said.
The structure runs adjacent to a CSX Railroad bridge. Noble said he would hope the railroad will rehabilitate that structure as well.
