ALBANY – Unemployment numbers rose in all nine counties in the Hudson Valley/Catskills region in June when compared to the same month last year. The increases were minor, in the tenths of one percent.
Despite the rise, Columbia County, with 3.5 percent unemployment had the lowest rate in the state. It was up one-tenth of one percent from last June.
Putnam County, at number seven statewide, had a rate of 4.2 percent, up from 3.9 percent one year earlier.
Dutchess, Rockland, Sullivan and Ulster counties all had joblessness rates of 4.4 percent in June. Dutchess rose from 4.2 percent; Rockland increased from 4.1 percent; Sullivan increased from 4.3 percent; and Dutchess rose from 4.2 percent.
Westchester County had a 4.5 percent rate of joblessness, up from 4.2 percent one year earlier.
Greene and Orange counties each had 4.6 percent rates of unemployment, with Greene going from 4.4 percent and Orange increasing from 4.3 percent.
Hudson Valley-wide, unemployment in June was 4.5 percent, up from 4.2 percent in June 2016.
