POUGHKEEPSIE – With the 2020 census just around the corner, Dutchess County Legislature Chairman Dale Borchert and County Executive Marcus Molinaro have formed an independent commission to advise the lawmakers on reapportionment and ethics.
Borchert said he wanted to “take the bull by the horns” and begin exploring how best the legislature can serve county residents.
The commission would provide feedback on the size of the legislature – there are 25 now – and whether they should go from two-year terms to four-year terms.
The commission will also be charged with reviewing and making recommendations
for updates to the county ethics code.
The bipartisan commission will include four appointed by the legislature chairman and three by the county executive.
