NEW CITY – The man who drove his car onto the shoulder of Route
59 in Monsey on June 26, striking a mother, two daughters and three-month-old
son, has been indicted by a Rockland County grand jury on a manslaughter
charge.

Albert Gomez, 62, of Spring Valley, ran down the family during a road
rage incident directed at a taxi. The infant, who was in a stroller, Mayer
Braun, died from his injuries on July 5.

According to the charges, the 1999 Toyota Corolla Gomez was driving struck
the 38-year-old woman, her daughters, ages 13 and nine, and the baby as

allegedly sped onto the shoulder when he struck the victims.

The mother and her daughters suffered serious, but not life threatening
injuries and are recovering.

If convicted, Gomez faces up to 15 years in state prison. He remains in
custody in the Rockland County Jail.

He was indicted on charges of manslaughter, criminally negligent homicide,
